wings
Caeli have two pairs of retractable wings, while Queens have three or more pairs.
Caeli wings take some time to inflate before flight, as fluids fill the wing membrane through veins and hardens to create a strong but flexible network. Because it requires a lot of energy, and due to their size, caeli have to eat large amounts to sustain flight!
At times the flight-or-flight reflex can accidentally trigger the wings to full size.
Caeli wings are divided into three types:
Membranous, Avian and Draconic.

Caeli wings have no feathers, scales, or bones, and are instead membranous, containing a network of veins that inflate in a pneumatic system. The wings come down from the collarbone down along the back to furl out like a dragonfly. Wings solidify in different configurations to create various shapes and textures!
The wing membrane can be seen even when deflated, covering some or all of the shoulders where wings protrude. The original and most common type of wing is membranous and all other types (avian and draconic) evolved from the original. Complex arrangements of membrane (such as in Draconic wings) increases the likelihood of deformities. |
