How do I get a Caeli?
- Firstly, there are regular auctions, event auctions and normal flat-price sales. Sales are always announced in our discord group!
- Secondly, keep an eye out for MYO slots that are released in advertised journals. It is best to follow @ImperfectEnthusiast on DeviantArt in order to see if any are open.
- Thirdly, you may have your dream caeli made by ImperfectEnthusiast as a 'custom' design. These have a high level of customization, though will cost more than regular flat sales. Custom designs are always open and you must place yourself on a waitlist by messaging ImperfectEnthusiast on discord.
- A money-free way to get a caeli is through the Black Market. When you earn caeli coins via gift art or joining Caeli group events, you can buy a MYO slot or even a custom using the in-game currency. This system runs 24/7 and never closes.
- A last and unpredictable way to get a caeli is to trade with owners of Caeli who do not want them anymore. You can put up a "Looking for closed species Caeli" post on discord over in #ads-seeking-or-posting! So long as you can offer art, money, or characters - whatever it may be that people are looking for at the time. You may or may not get offers depending on what you're offering in the journal as compensation.
- Occasionally, there will be raffles, contests and other celebratory events which are free to join.
Can I change my Caeli's design?
- Minor edits like shortening hair length, removal of difficult markings or accessories that came with the caeli are okay and you don't need to ask! You may also add any accessories or clothing and additionally change their gender, name etc. This is all well within your individual capacity and we completely support giving your caeli an immersive personality.
- Larger edits and trait upgrades require items in the Black Market that you can buy to either upgrade or edit your caeli. You must post your edited design on #design-checker over on discord to have it approve by one of the admins and clearly state which items you've used and traits you've changed!
- Larger edits must still be based on the caeli you're redesigning, and retain some key identifiable features of the character.
Are there any rules about selling Caeli?
Why can't I resell the design for profit?
The reason why artists don't want you making a profit on their closed species, by reselling it for more than it's worth, is because it undermines the balanced economy of the closed species. If you allowed someone to buy one of your earliest adopts for 5$ and then turn around and sell it for 500$ because your adopts got popular, you'd be undermining the quality of your own work, the growth of your closed species' value, and the stability of the community. [Section paraphrased from CFerretRun @ DA]
But what if the design includes extra art?
The reason why many closed species don't allow increased sale price is to protect their closed species and online economies. If you allow someone to buy an adopt for 200$ and then they pump that adopt up with low quality art, art from unverifiable sources, and/or doing the art themselves which leads to 0 monetary transfer- you put yourself into a position of playing investigator for all adopts being sold with art. You have to make sure that there is monetary value for each piece, where it came from, and how it was procured. For communities that have hundreds of adopts out there? Its almost entirely impossible. So the standard rule of art having no additional value is in place to protect multiple facets of the community, to be less time consuming for trading, to prevent scammers from artificially inflating the price of a design, and to keep the cycling economy stable.
- If you purchased a caeli for real-life currency, you may resell your caeli up to the amount that the design sold for originally. You may NOT resell a caeli for a higher price than originally purchased, even including extra art (e.g. Original price was $50 so you may resell it for $50).
- If you did not purchase the caeli with real-life currency you cannot resell the Caeli design. This means event Caeli, raffle Caeli and other obtained Caeli cannot be sold for money.
- Caeli designed using a MYO slot may be sold for the price that the owner bought the slot for. However, unused MYO slots may not be sold or traded. Please look at MYO & Custom Rules for all information regarding MYOs.
- If you are thinking of selling a Caeli or have any questions please send a message in the group discord.

Ownership
- Co-owning designs is not endorsed by the group. If you choose to co-own anyway, we will not mediate disputes. There will only be one owner listed on the masterlist, and the owner will always have full responsibility over the design.
- You must report ownership changes to the Masterlist, or else you may accidentally lose ownership of your caeli.
I'm leaving the closed species scene.
Please let us know if you're leaving Caelis for good! We want to know if you'll be coming back or not- so we can delete your bank account and tie up any loose ends on the masterlist. If you're unable to find a new home for your caeli and don't have the time to put them up for offer you can message us to retire your caeli into an NPC, find new forever homes, or raffle them away on your behalf.
